Playstation streamed their latest State of Play today featuring lots of spooky games a fair amount of updates for older and soon to be released games and one interesting reveal at the end.

First up was an Astro Bot free DLC update, featuring 5 new online speed run levels and 10 new bots. The DLC will come out later this fall.

Free DLC is always cool!

Next up was the start of the spooky section of games, with Claymation title The Midnight Walk leading things off:

The tagline they wrote on youtube describes it best: “Embark upon The Midnight Walk in this dark fantasy adventure from the minds behind Lost in Random. Become The Burnt One, befriend a lost lantern creature named Potboy, and use his flame to light your way through a conflicting world of wonder and terror. Coming to PS5 and PS VR2, Spring 2025!”

Next up was Hell is Us, a post-apocalyptic game coming in 2025:

You can fight demons in this too!

Next up in the spooky games train is Metro Awakening from the Metro 2033 universe for PS VR2 (Playstation’s really trying to push this VR thing eh?)

Available Nov 7 2024

There were a few more spooky-esque games peppered throughout the State of Play, but the next game up was Palworld (aren’t they getting sued?) available on PS 5…. today!

Actually, their was a game before Palworld, but it totally slipped my mind. Here it is, in case anyone cared:

Moving on, the Lunar Remastered Collection coming out for PS5 and PS4.

The Lunar remastered collection includes: LUNAR: Silver Star Story Complete and LUNAR 2: Eternal Blue Complete, available Spring 2025

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge announced a new DLC available… today!

The “Radical Reptiles” DLC includes two new playable fighters: Mondo Gecko and Mona Lisa. It also includes a free update: a remix of the original soundtrack featuring the following artists:

  • Lead Remixer: Sean Bialo
  • Guest Remixers
  • Anamanaguchi – Panic In The Sky!
  • Button Masher – Rumble In The Zoo
  • Jake Kaufman – It Won’t Fly!
  • Keiji Yamagishi – The Lost Archenemies
  • Tomoya Tomita – A Few Screws Loose

Diving into our collective nostalgia even more was a Sonic update! A Sonic The Hedgehog Movie 3 update pack will be included with the Sonic X Shadow Generations Digital Deluxe Edition, so you can play the movie version of Shadow, voiced by Keanu Reeves. Digital Deluxe Edition players get to play 3 days early (Oct 22, instead of Oct 25 for the actual release date).

Next up was an update for FANTASIAN, the latest game from from Hironobu Sakaguchi, “the father of Final Fantasy” (I swear that’s mentioned every time his name is for this game). What’s the update? Well, Nobuo Uematsu will be doing the music for the game (Yay!) and the release date: December 5th, 2024

Next up was an extended look at Dragon Age: The Veilguard, coming October 31st.

There’s so many options on that pop up screen

Why do the Grey Wardens look like space marines? Is it just me?

Back to spooky games for a bit with Alan Wake 2: The Lake House Expansion.

Coming OCTOBER. Like October when? October is next week~!

Another VR2 game, this time from the Hitman universe. Hitman: World of Assassination, coming this December:

Looks cool, but did it have to be VR only?

Anyway, back to remasters, with Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2, available December 10th

That was followed up by another spooky game, Fear The Spotlight, inspired by spooky games from the original Playstation. Available October 22nd for PS5 & PS4.

Gotta love those polygonal characters!

Next up was Towers of Aghasba, a game that took me three times to spell correctly. The game seems interesting enough, you farm, you fish, you create on an island, you can invite your friends.

Early access starts this November so we can expect more updates from this game as they progress to full release.

Next up was Lego Fortnite update. You can play split-screen with a friend on the same console! Also, if you ever wanted a Fortnite PS5 controller, today’s your day:

Actually, your day (to pre-order) is on October 3. When the controller actually drops? Who knows.

Moving on to Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Releasing January 17th 2025

You can also be a Chinese Warrior fighting another thousand Chinese Warriors, right before Lunar New Year! (Lunar New Year starts Jan 29th 2025)

Capcom was gracious enough to provide us with yet another look at Monster Hunter: Wilds.

The date is February 28th, 2025. (I swear they had announced that already, no?). Anyway, Pre-orders (and bonuses) are available now. I anticipate lots of people taking late February and early March off.

Next we got not one, but TWO Horizon game updates:

If you ever wanted to play a Lego Horizon game this one is for you. Lego Horizon Adventures releases November 14th.

Also, Horizon Zero Dawn remastered is coming out for PS5 and PC on October 31st. (The same day as the new Dragon Age game? interesting.) For those of you that bought it on PS4, you can upgrade to the PS5 version for $9.99.

Stellar Blade was next to get an update. What’s the update? PHOTO MODE!

Also, a Stellar Blade x Neir: Automata collaboration coming later this year. Also the OST is available on streaming services now.

Next up was a PS Plus update:

WWE 2K24, Dead Space and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! launch October 1 for all playStation Plus members.

For PS Plus Premium members, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Dino Crisis are coming to the Playstation Classics Catalog later this year.

Also for Premium and Extra members, The Last of Us, Part 1, is coming to the Game Catalog September 26th.

Next up, if you wanted shiny PS5’s and PS5 controllers, the Chroma Collection is coming for you:

Playstation then gave us an update on which games would be available and enhanced on PS5 Pro:

Finally, from the coming out of left field catagory, a game that no one expected but that everyone seemingly recognized off the hop:

Ghost of Yotei (aka Ghost of Tsushima 2 or Ghost 2) is coming out in 2025, seemingly set in the area of Mount Yotei in the Hokkaido region during Japan’s Sengoku Jidai era. It’s like Sucker Punch saw Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Shadows and told themselves that they could make a better game. Also, Ubisoft mysteriously cancelled their AC: Shadows showcase at Tokyo Game Show?

Anyway, that’s all about Playstation’s State of Play. Lots of releases coming out in the near future. Ghost of Yotei is definitly on my radar…. but I kinda wanna try out the Ninja Turtles game?
