On November 24, 2024, Sakura-Con announced that they will be closing their X (which they still called Twitter) account on December 1. They will instead be moving onto Bluesky, while still remaining on Meta platforms. Here’s their announcement on X:
This announcement makes Sakura-Con the first among the largest anime conventions in USA to leave X/Twitter, and to have an official presence on Bluesky. None of the other top 10 largest anime cons in USA have made a similar announcement yet, and neither have the other two larger ACG (Animation, Comics and Games) cons in Seattle, Emerald City Comic Con and PAX West. Only time will tell if any other cons will follow suit, and whether this will affect the attendance and feel of the con. Regardless, our coverage of Sakura-Con, including our exclusive interviews, will not be affected.
Update 2024/12/06: The Sakura-Con X/Twitter account is completely gone now.
